The Emerald Vale Community Center is a location in the Emerald Vale and is owned by Spacer's Choice.

Background

The community center was intended to house an exhibit showcasing the history of Emerald Vale. In addition to celebrating the Vale's Spacer's Choice heritage, it also features taxidermied creatures from Halcyon. A console message from Director Pickett states that a mantiqueen was supposed to be the centerpiece of the exhibit. However, at the time of the Stranger's arrival, the exhibit is incomplete.

Layout

The main entrance is guarded by five Marauder Hooligans. You can fight the Hooligans from the northern side without alerting the marauders near the southern buildings, which makes the fight easier. The building can also be entered from the east side without alerting any enemies. However, this route is guarded by a minefield.

The two-story building contains more marauders who become hostile on sight. There are several doors which are barred and can only be initially accessed from one direction. Most notably, the double doors in the front entrance area are barred and must be opened from the other side by traversing the first floor corridors. There is a locked (9) terminal on the reception desk in the front entrance room.

Through the right doorway of the foyer is the unfinished 'History of Emerald Vale' exhibit. There are informative logs in front of each display, containing information about saltuna, primals, canids, and mantiqueens. There is a set of stairs leading up to the next level and a door to the bathroom which leads into the director's office.

The director's office contains a locked (10) bin, some riot control armor and a sawed-off shotgun on the couch. There is a terminal on the desk in this room. The office door can be unbarred from the inside. It leads out to the central corridor of the building and where the front double doors can be unbarred. The first aid room is connected to this corridor but the door is locked and requires a key to unlock.

The first aid room contains healing items such as two Ollie Ollie Toxifrees, two canisters of Pep Pills and a Dervish Mist. There is a crate of Experimental Anthrocillin on one of the benches, needed for the quest, The Long Tomorrow.

The eastern end of the corridor connects to a mess hall. There is a Spacer's Choice vending machine, several bins, and assorted consumables in the kitchen area. There is also a door in the kitchen leading out to Emerald Vale. The mess hall also connects to a large room with upturned tables that have been made into makeshift barricades. A sentry sabre is stabbed into a table, surrounded by blood stains. The rooms curve back around to a lecture hall with a staircase leading up and eventually back to the front foyer.

Upstairs is a small office area containing many desks, some bins and assorted loot, and several non-hostile sprats. The Guide to Mechanical Engineering: Volume 1 can be found on a desk here.
