“This is Rizzo's lab all right. Place has more dust than sweetener now.
„
Rizzo's Secret Laboratory is an underground location in Cascadia.
Background[]
A password protected labratory originally owned by Rizzo for flavor research and development.[1] Prior to the Board enacting the Hazard Clause, Rizzo volunteered to provide lab space for the chimerist Eva Chartrand and her team to conduct experiments to "lead to a better Halcyon". The tests conducted in the lab were primarily animal tests, with the test subjects including native fauna of Monarch (then called Terra 1) and cystypigs from the nearby C&P Boarst Factory. One human trial was also done in the lab, as one member of the research team, Thomas Lynwood Ryall, sacrificed himself to further the research that the team was doing. The tank containing his body can be found in one of the chambers. Regardless, the team was not able to make significant strides in their research prior to the companies pulling out of Terra 1, when the project was reassigned to a secondary lab.
Layout[]
If entering from Rizzo’s Sweets Shoppe, the first room has a small sitting area to the left and three desks to the right. Directly ahead is a locked (Lockpick 75) door. To the left from the door is a barred door and to the right there is a Rizzo’s self-serve snack system. Next to the vending machine is a door that leads to a cafeteria with another Rizzo’s self serve snack system. The room behind the locked door from before can be accessed through the cafeteria. It has four lockers to loot and contains a message terminal that contains correspondence from Eva Chartrand. The message terminal is also used to contact ADA during Space-Crime Continuum. The rest of the facility can be accessed through a barred door to the south-west. It leads to a hallway where the barred door from the first room can be unbarred. Continuing south-west, there is another hallway that has windows to a large room with mantisaurs inside on the southeastern side and a door to a bathroom with deceased mantipillars and a destroyed mechanical sentry on the opposite side. Further down the hallway there is a locked (Lockpick 35) door with ordnance control armor gold, ordnance control helmet gold and a flamethrower on the shelf, as well as some minor loot. Eventually the hallway splits, with paths to the southeast and to the southwest.
The southwestern path is boobytrapped with several mines and a laser tripwire that can be disabled by destroying the explosives launchers on the ceiling. In the boobytrapped room there is also a locked door (Lockpick 100). The room on the other side can also be accessed by continuing down the southwestern path, which will lead to a room with large mechanical contraptions and two functional mechanical sentries. On the opposite side of the room is a door to a hallway with two directions blocked by rubble and one direction that is filled with scalding steam that turns off periodically, and some mines on the walls. Walking through the hallway will lead to the room behind the locked door. The room contains the ventilation system master control terminal. With Science 60, this terminal can be used to neutralise all the mantisaurs in the facility. On the northeastern side of the room is a barred door that can be opened, which will connect with the southeastern path from the split earlier.
The south-eastern hallway leads to the large room with mantisaurs that was seen earlier. It contains many explosive barrels and a workbench. The upper section of the area can be reached through a ladder on the north-eastern side. The landing has three large vats of Purpleberry Punch and three large vats of Nanner Spank. A locked bin (Lockpick 25) is in the corner, beside the refueling terminal. The refueling terminal also contains archived logs by Eva. A door on the south-eastern side leads to another large room. The room has four operating tables in a lower area and a vat containing the body of Dr. Thomas. On the south-eastern edge of the room is a door to an office-like room with a terminal containing Eva’s logs and a 25 locked bin. Behind a fallen locker is a Telescoping staff MK2. On the opposite side is a room with a mantiqueen and a mantipillar. There are some stairs that lead to an upper section that contains the gas regulation terminal. In the upper section, there is an opening in the wall with a platform that can be jumped on. A ladder can be accessed from the platform. On top of the ladder is a landing with a deceased scientist, minor loot and a container with the unique Mind Control Ray.
An elevator in the upper section with the gas regulation terminal leads up to the Constable's office in Cascadia.

Companion reactions[]
- Nyoka: (When entering the lab) "I bet nobody set foot in here since Cascadia fell."
- (On finding Thomas's body) "Gotta admit, I ain't got a lot of sympathy for someone willing to experiment on themselves. Or any person, really."
- Parvati: (When entering the lab) "H-hello? Anybody here?"
Notes[]
- The Mechanical Guardian Mk2 in the cafeteria can be convinced to stand down if SAM is a companion. SAM will initiate an emergency deep-clean protocol authorization code (APASTRON-5) and the guardian will accept the protocol, as its last cleaning occurred 3654 days prior.
