The Edgewater Saltuna Cannery is a factory in Edgewater, owned and operated by Spacer's Choice.

Background[]

The Saltuna Cannery is Edgewater's main source of employment. The factory is suffering from supply problems since much of the saltuna came from Stellar Bay.

In order to continue providing food to the city, the factory has begun mixing the saltuna with other materials including minerals, crushed stones, native mushrooms which possess a similar texture to saltuna, and canid bits.[1] Unfortunately the non-saltuna contents of the cans causes them to explode in the ovens, breaking the machinery, as the ovens are calibrated to only cook saltuna of a certain size.[2]

The poor nutritional content of the contaminated saltuna is causing the population of Edgewater to fall ill with "plague", as saltuna is all that they eat as a Spacer's Choice company town.[3]

Layout[]

Starting from the main entryway, the cannery opens up into a reception area with a desk and terminal immediately ahead and behind it the elevator to Reed Tobson's office; the factory's logo on to the right hand side of the elevator. The doors to the left and right lead to the factory floor, taking the right hand door leads out to the far end of the factory and climbing the boxes immediately ahead, then turning to the right and jumping the gap to the next bank of boxes leads to a bin, for which taking the contents counts as theft. Looking back at the ground and to the left of said bin is a large door to the exterior of the cannery. Climbing back down and looking north there is another bin, which as most other bins taking the contents counts as theft and just beyond it a ladder to the upper level. Turning east between the bin and the ladder is a Spacer's Choice vending machine; continuing north then east to the end of the conveyor belt, three tins of gourmet saltuna fillets can be found on the rollers and another three in the red box at the tip of the rollers on the floor; looking to the east is a large bin.

Going around the conveyor and turning west, there is a another small bin between the computer terminals and past them on the table another tin of gourmet saltuna filets. Continuing on there is the conveyor on the left and machinery to the right, with another computer terminal in the corner. Turning left at the end another large bin can be seen; the only way to reach this is to climb the conveyor opposite and jump over. As one reaches the end of the path, the door to the store room can be seen to the corner on the right and turning left the opposite door to the reception can be seen; going around the machinery and turning left grants access to the ramp up to the second floor to the right.

Taking the ramp up and turning right; six sprat corpses can be seen on the ground; if they contain any items they can be taken freely. Turning around and passing the ramp there is a door ahead leading into Phyllis Granger's office, on the desk is a Mag-Pick and a terminal which can be accessed; the messages are available to read, however, the personnel files are locked and can be bypassed with Hack 5. There is also a locker in the north east corner. Leaving the office and turning right, Phyllis herself can be found standing just before the walkway turns right again. Continuing past Phyllis and veering right, then right again the ladder back to the first floor can be seen on the left and another office to the right; a corporate trooper is also patrolling this area.

Entering the office and turning left a Guide to Mechanical Engineering: Volume 2 can be seen sitting on the drawers to the right and ahead is a desk with another terminal on it. Under the desk to the right of the terminal is a locked bin (Lockpick 5, Mag-Picks 2); looking to the left between the stacks drawers is a bottle of Zero Gee Brew, as with most other items in the cannery taking this counts as theft.

Heading back down the ramp and turning left to go into the storage, four more dead sprats can be seen on the table to the right and past the table a barred door that can only be accessed from Emerald Vale via the locked door to the north west of the junkyard; in here are two large bins and two Mag-Picks. To the left the door to the staff dining room can be seen, to the left upon entry is another Spacer's Choice vending machine, a fridge and a bank of counters, many of which may contain items; on the counter by the fridge is another tin of gourmet saltuna fillets. On the west wall is a bank of lockers as is the north wall however, one of the lockers is locked (Lockpick 10, Mag-Pick 3). Turning around and leaving again the final door back to the streets of Edgewater can be seen along with the lost and found terminal on the right.

Heading back to the barred door, there is a stairwell that leads down to the generator room. Turning right then right again at the bottom rather going into the generator room leads to a large bin and climbing the boxes behind it a Mag-Pick can be found. Heading into the generator room itself, a walkway wraps left around the first two sides and partially around the second with a ladder down to the lower levels; the is also a ramp immediately ahead on entry to the lower level. Following the walkway and climbing down, the power regulator can be seen directly ahead with the generator terminal to the right and three sprat corpses at the regulator's base. It is possible to walk around the generator, however, there is nothing further of note down here.

Heading back to the reception and taking the elevator up, Reed Tobson will be seen in his office talking with Parvati Holcomb. The two are flanked by corporate guards either side. To the left of the elevator is a locked door which can only be opened with Reed's key. Inside this room is a large unlocks bin and Reed's personal terminal.
