The Doom That Came to Roseway is a side quest.

Synopsis[]

A distress call from Roseway, a corporate township on Terra 2, was cut off mid-broadcast at the source. Investigate the call.

1	Find Anton's safe	You've been asked to recover research data from the safe in Anton Crane's office. Anton's office is in Auntie Cleo corporation's Secret Lab, which lies at the end of the paved road south out of Roseway.
Optional	Deal with the raptidons	Raptidons are loose in the underground facility. It would be of great help to Anton if all of them were subdued or killed.
Optional	Eliminate the Outlaws	Auntie Cleo's Secret Lab is under attack by a band of outlaws -- interplanetary raiders with no respect for property, life, or polite speech. Anton would like them removed, if possible.
2	Create an Escape Route	You've agreed to help open up an escape route for Cassandra. You'll need to find a keycard to unlock her pen gate and clear out either the Auntie Cleo security forces near the front entrance or the raptidons infesting the loading dock. The keycard can be printed from the security console terminal.
3	Release Cassandra	You found the needed keycard and opened up a route out of the lab for Cassandra. Unlock her door and inform her of her available escape routes.
4	Speak to Anton.	You got Anton's diet toothpaste research data. Head to Roseway and speak with him.

It is possible to progress the quest without ever talking to Anton, but one will have to speak either with Cassandra O'Malley or Reuben Porter to receive objectives.
Failure to return the Research Data leads to Anton committing suicide.
Even returning the data can sometimes lead to Anton committing suicide depending on how he is spoken to.
After getting the keycard, the map marker will show that you need to head back to Cassandra. She has no new dialogue options, so the map marker is actually pointing to the "lock" on Cassandra's cell, which is on the wall behind her. You need to go through several rooms to get behind the cell and find the lock to get her out or kill her.
If the Auntie Cleo faction becomes hostile the quest will botch.
After freeing Cassandra, choosing the option that you do not work for free results in Cassandra giving 1,250 bits. You can then pass a 31 Persuasion check for more.

This quest might automatically complete when entering Roseway after getting the Research Data, which prevents receiving the full reward of returning the Research Data to Anton, including the Researcher's Scrubs. To prevent this bug, one has to avoid the disillusionment dialogue options that might be presented prior to completing this quest normally. This also includes the options that might be presented while working on the By His Bootstraps quest. Another workaround would involve doing By His Bootstraps up to the last quest stage of reporting back to Anton, then completing this quest by returning the research to Anton, and then after report to Anton the final result of By His Bootstraps.
