The Low Crusade is a companion quest in The Outer Worlds.

Synopsis

Ellie wants you to take her to visit her parents in Byzantium. When you're in the area.

Walkthrough

The first time the Stranger lands the Unreliable in Byzantium, they'll find Ellie waiting for them by the exit door. Talking to her will start the quest. She will ask the Stranger come visiting her parents with her and to be as impolite as possible.

Take Ellie to Fenhill Estate and talk to her parents, Theodora Fenhill and Lionel Witherspoon. The Stranger can choose to go along with Ellie's request and be impolite or not to do so, either way during the conversation they will learn Ellie's parents didn't think she would ever come back, so, in order to obtain her life insurance Bits, they made up a story about her dying after tripping while wearing a pair of twelve-inch high heels custom-made for her by Celeste Jolicoeur. Then Ellie's parents ask her to leave quietly without causing a scene.

Once outside the house, Ellie tells the Stranger she's pretty upset about her parents' lack of surprise and interest for her sudden return. Then she comes up with a plan to change the beneficiary of her life insurance payouts from her parents to herself.

Go to the Greater Halcyon Insurance Group office. Once there, they will learn all business is conducted in their satellite office in Fallbrook, on Monarch.

Go to the Fallbrook office and talk to the Insurance Agent. When asked about changing Ellie's life insurance payouts beneficiary she will say it's impossible because only Mrs. Fenhill herself can change it, but she's dead. Then the Stranger has several options - Intimidate (30) the agent into changing the beneficiary, Bribe her or go to the back room upstairs and use the terminal to change it themselves. The back room door requires Lockpick 45 or the key that can be pickpocketed from the Insurance Agent.

After changing the beneficiary the Stranger can talk to Ellie to complete the quest. Ellie will obtain the perk Beyond the Grave, which will lower by 50% the cost of the bribes when she's in the party and the Framed Insurance Check decoration in her cabin on the Unreliable.

3		Find the Insurance Agency Office	If anyone's going to make money off of Ellie's alleged death, Ellie figures it should be her. Find the Greater Halcyon Insurance Group in Byzantium to set things straight.
4		Set Up a Dummy Beneficiary Account for Ellie	Visit the Greater Halcyon Insurance Group in Fallbrook and set up a dummy beneficiary account for Ellie.
5		Talk to Ellie	All of Ellie's future insurance payouts will now be funneled into her dummy account. Time to wrap things up with her.
