Udom Bedford is the representative of the Halcyon Holdings Corporation (HHC) to the Groundbreaker.
Background[]
Emissary to the Board, Udom is a bureaucrat stationed at the main gateway to HHC controlled space. Seeking a way to Byzantium, Udom fostered a relationship with Alex Hawthorne as a means to locate Phineas Vernon Welles and use the fugitive as his ticket off the Groundbreaker, routinely impounding Alex's ship[1] to ensure they meet whenever Alex docks. Outwardly to Alex and others, Udom considers him a friend.
Udom also has financial issues which reached a point where he had to pawn his Official seal of Halcyon Holdings board to Gladys Culkelly as a means of staying afloat. At one point he even got involved in a heist and hired a thief by the name of Jessie Doyle to steal the famed Blood Tear diamond.[2] Udom admits he sent an assassin after Jessie who still owed him money after it turned out he was conned - the diamond turned to dust as soon as Jessie put her hands on it. He has no scruples to use his influence as a Board representative to further his personal agenda.[3]

- Udom is into serials, but according to Leonard Wheeler he takes it to an unhealthy level.[4]
- Junlei calls Udom a leech and wouldn't rush to help out if the Board Embassy would catch on fire.[5]
- Corporate guards in front of the Embassy seem to have little respect for Udom, since they can be overheard calling him "walking mustache" behind his back.[6]
- Failing to turn in Welles to him in time will result in his replacement at the embassy. Kendrick Silva, the new representative, will mention screams coming from the waste disposal, where Udom was disposed of.
